John David Ellzey, Sr., known by close friends and family as “David”, was born and raised in Amite, Louisiana. He and his wife JoAnn are the founders of Ellzey’s Taxidermy and John David Ellzey’s Squirrel Forms. They have a son, John David, Jr. and wife Diana and 2 Grandchildren, who are their pride and joy! David Ellzey is a taxidermist and master sculptor. He is known in the taxidermy industry as “The Squirrel Man”. He has also been an instructor for taxidermy events on the state, regional, national, and world levels.
Miranda Spencer joined the Ellzey team in 2013. She wanted to try her hand at taxidermy and David saw enough potential in her to give her a shot. To this day, he has not regretted that decision! She is married to her childhood friend, Joe Spencer and between them they have 3 daughters and 1 son. They also welcomed their 1st grandchild to the family in 2016. Under David’s tutorship, Miranda has learned every aspect of the taxidermy business. Along with her taxidermy duties, she works as a secretary/bookkeeper. Miranda is living proof that you are never too old to change careers in order to follow your dreams.
